On the launch of the fiscally supported R+D project entitled “Development of a mobile language teaching centre”

3 / 1 / 2013

Combit Inc., as a member company of the ÖKOPolisz Accredited Innovation Cluster, has submitted an application for the development of a mobile language teaching centre. For the realization of the project, they have been granted financial support of HUF 154,094,370 in the framework called “GOP-2011-1.3.1/B – Supporting complex technological innovation of accredited cluster member companies”, under the umbrella of the New Széchenyi Plan support system. The total eligible cost of the project is HUF 326,284,950.

The aim of the project is the development of a mobile language teaching centre which provides students with electronic multimedia teaching materials for studying foreign languages using web-based devices – including mobile (smart) phones, with the option of tailoring system services to one’s personal needs. For these purposes, a server system will be built, which will store various multimedia teaching materials in its dedicated database along with the students’ personal performances and will use these data to select and offer further lessons and exercises for continuous advancement in learning the language. Professional language teachers will assist students as instructors, they will evaluate students’ answers to exercises and will provide students with direct support in the forms of message exchange through mobile phones or via the internet, real-time chat, one or bi-directional audio and/or video connections. In addition, students will also be able to keep in touch with each other through the system.

As the partners of Combit Inc., the University of Pannonia and LSI Information Technology Learning Centre will play an important role in the development and operation of the Mobile Language Teaching Centre. Their partnership is based on several years of successful co-operation in the field of developing and handling various multimedia teaching materials.
